I love belly dance.  I find it to be a beautiful form of expression, personal, relaxing, and a form of exercise that I enjoy (among other things). Belly dance has more than just physical health benefits; there are spiritual, mental and emotional benefits as well as the bonding and friendship of other dancers (especially if you take public classes). This dance is usually considered a woman's dance although there are male dancers out there (and some very good ones too). This dance has a certain power for women who perform it on all levels of being (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual). You will find women of all shapes, sizes, ethnicities, races, nationalities, religions, etc who take lessons and dance beautifully (yet another thing I love about it).

There are many many styles of belly dance performed in the US and around the world. It would be impossible to list every style of belly dance found throughout the world as each group of dancers or individual has their own way of performing. I think the most common styles found in the US are cabaret and tribal and even within these you will find different styles. One of the things that I love about the dance is that there is so much diversity in it; I dare say it is impossible to get bored!!

Below I will list some of the sites that I frequent for belly dance information and inspiration (and these are not in any particular order). These sites listed are only a tiny fraction of the belly dance related sites that are available.
